what an awesome book. Investigative journalism at it’s best. Hats off to crusaders like Jane Mayer who report it as they see it without fear of retribution. The story of big money in politics, we always knew about, but big money influencing how we think, in education, in colleges, teaching climate change and other such thoughts are all humbug…that is a new low. Everyone does what they want to do and then justify it, the Koch brothers are no different….I hope everyone reads this book to get a perspective, get the facts on where the country is headed under the influence of dark money.
interesting book. Gives you a glimpse of why the whiskey tax was levied to pay for the American war of independence and what a big mistake it was to do that. In general history has not been kind to anyone trying to take away a man or a woman’s drink. The prohibition in the 20s which though had a different foundation, based on morality did not last too long. The book also gives a glimpse of many interesting characters and I found Herman Husband the most intriguing. Good book. Read it.
